The optimum wellness plans being offered by Banfield are intently designed to provide preventative care and yearly check-ups for pets. Essentially, the primary goal of these pet health plans is disease prevention. The best thing about the Banfield pet plans is that they cover pre-existing conditions, which is not the case with conventional veterinary insurance policies.

Generally speaking, these wellness plans come in different types. There is a health policy intended only for kittens and puppies, and there is also a plan designed for adult dogs and cats.

Wellness Plans for Puppies and Kittens

Banfield’s pet health plans for puppies and kittens can be classified in two categories — the primary and basic plans. Primary wellness plans cover yearly check-ups at any Banfield animal hospital, which also include dental exams, fecal tests, vaccinations, feline AIDS testing, heartworm testing (applicable for puppies only), and blood cell count. Plan holders who opt for the primary plan are given five percent discount on all kinds of veterinary services. Meanwhile, basic wellness plans cover the same services but with the addition of spay, neuter, and hip dysplasia screening. Basic plans provide plan holders with ten percent discount on all kinds of pet healthcare services.

Wellness Plans for Adult Dogs and Cats

Just like with the health plans provided to puppies and kittens, the healthcare plans for adult dogs and cats can also be dissected into two types. Basic Plus covers anesthesia, urinalysis, dental care and other services that falls under the basic wellness plans. Plan holders can also enjoy fifteen percent discount on all other services. On the other hand, those who want a more comprehensive care plan should opt for the optimum wellness plan. This plan covers everything plus special diagnostic tests like annual chest x-rays, electrocardiograms for dogs, and heartworm tests for cats. Furthermore, plan holders are given 20 percent discount on all other veterinary services provided by the Banfield animal hospital.
