Bow Hunting Tips

This may seem a little elementary, but it’s important to practice shooting your bow. Get in as much practice as you can before and during hunting season. Practicing your aim is fine, but it’s not the only thing that matters.

You stance, controlling your breathing, and getting a feel for your bow are the most important things to do. If you can’t do any of these things, then your aim probably won’t be anything to write home about. If you’re in the woods getting ready for your shot and all your concentrating on is your aim, chances are it won’t be a very good shot.

Know Your Distance

Get to know the maximum amount of distance that you can shoot to get your animal. In bow hunting, you get one shot and one shot only. With a rifle, you’re able to reload quickly, which allows you to possibly get another shot off. With a bow, you don’t get this second chance.

Silence Is Golden

Along with getting rid of your scent, silencing your bow is one of the most important things to do before you head out on a big hunt. This doesn’t take long, and it could decide whether you get your target, or if you go home empty handed.

First of all, make sure that all bolts and screws are tightened, use string silencers, and attach rubber grommets at all accessory mounting points. You may also want to invest in a decent stabilizer. These not only stabilize the bow, but hydro and gel filled stabilizers will also absorb many of the vibrations that can cause a noise.

The Kill Shot

An arrow does not kill an animal in the same manner of a bullet. It doesn’t rely on knocking an animal over or shattering its bone, but mostly on the animal hemorrhaging. It is, therefore, extremely important that you make your shot count. You probably won’t get another one.

Try some of these tips with the use of Parker bows or Bear compound bow.
