Why You Should Be Careful when Choosing a Wall Mounted Toilet
A wall mounted toilet offers a lot of benefits. It provides improved aesthetics, it doesn’t use a lot of space, and it makes cleaning easier. However, there are some reasons why you should be careful before you ditch the standard floor mounted version.
Costly Repairs
A floor mounted toilet uses standard toilet parts. This is a good thing, as it makes repairs easy and cheap. Wall mounted toilets, however, use specialized parts. These are more expensive and might even be difficult to find. It is not uncommon for parts needed to repair your toilet, to cost six times more when it is for a wall hung toilet.
Can Your Bathroom Wall Handle it?
Another reason to be cautious when you look to install a wall hung toilet, is the fact that many bathroom walls are not designed to handle the weight of attaching a toilet. If you install the toilet anyway, you risk it breaking loose, damaging both the wall and the toilet. So, before you decide to purchase a wall hung toilet, check if your walls are sturdy and able to support the extra weight.
High Initial Cost
Purchasing a wall mounted toilet is expensive. You should expect to pay at least $100 more for it, than you would for a floor mounted toilet, and, often, you will pay even more. Before buying the toilet, make sure you have shopped around, and make sure you have carefully considered whether the toilet is worth the extra dollars to you.
Making the Right Choice
When listing the drawbacks of wall mounted toilets, it can easily end up sounding like they are always a terrible choice. This is not the case, for many they are an excellent option. All it means, is that prior to investing in your next piece of home improvement, you should carefully consider your options, and make sure you settle on what is right for you.
