Examing Diamond Studs

These days, there seems to be a lot of doubt about how to use diamonds. They are becoming less and less fashionable in wedding rings, because of the nature of the conflict diamond industry. This is not just limited to wedding rings, however – diamonds are generally being seen as more and more of a gem that should be stayed away from. As recently as a few years ago, every girl wanted to own diamond hoop earrings (and many men had a pair of diamond studs) – but these days, diamonds are no longer fashionable.  The question then arises of what to replace diamonds with. A lot of substitutes have come up.

First of all, there are artificial diamonds, like moissanite or cubic zirconium. However, these are not only seen as somewhat cheap and tacky, but they are also no different than diamonds in a lot of ways, because they look like diamonds, and so people will react to them as if they are diamonds. Instead, most stylish people are considering the shift to more exotic gem stones. Take, for example, the sapphire – a well cut sapphire is crystal blue, and tends to look absolutely beautiful. Similarly, there are very few things that look as good as a well polished emerald, or a deep red ruby. The vast majority of people out there tend to agree that these stones have much more character than diamonds, simply by nature of the fact that their colour is much deeper, and much more attractive to most people. As a general rule, the deeper a colour, the better it looks with jewellery – the amethyst, for example, is an absolutely riveting shade of purple.

Of course, in a lot of cases, these stones are still not cheap. A flawless ruby or amethyst will still cost quite a pretty penny, but for good reason – because they are usually absolutely stunning, and create a very powerful visual impact. And before we forget, we should also mention that in almost all cases, they are still cheaper than diamonds.
