Liven the Bathroom With A Glass Vessel Sink

There are many small touches that you can add to a bathroom to turn what might otherwise be a mundane looking room into something that is much more unusual. One of those small touches may be the installation of a glass vessel bathroom sink.

A vessel sink usually looks as though someone has placed a bowl on the vanity counter underneath the faucet. They can look particularly dramatic and they range from stone to bronze or copper, right through to a wide range of glass types.

Glass vessel bathroom sinks sit comfortably in the modern bathroom design and are starting to make more of an appearance in new bathrooms. They require a little more work to have them installed for a number of simple reasons.

The first is that the sink will sit higher in the room than a normal undermount sink. The bowl of the vessel sink sits on top of the counter and unless you can find a vanity unit that sits lower than the usual units, your vessel sink will give you an added few inches in height. This means that if you are using a bathroom faucet that was previously installed with a basin sink in mind it’s possible that the bowl will not fit properly under the spout.

The type of faucet you use with a vessel sink should also come after some serious thought. In order to complement the qualities of the bowl that has now become the bathroom sink the near modern taps won’t look right. Some kind of waterfall faucet would make a nice feature as it flows into a blown glass vessel sink.

It should be noted that due to the size and shape of vessel sinks, they are a little more prone to splashing so some regulation of the water flow from the faucet should be performed. You will not be terribly impressed if the water always splashes straight out of the bowl every time you run the water.

A vessel sink will make an impact on any new bathroom design. A part of the bathroom that is largely forgotten could become the new focal point of the room.
