Hair Removal by Friction

When you look into methods of hair removal, you find that there are a few, such a laser hair removal and waxing which get a lot of attention and advertising, and some which have very little written about them. Friction hair removal is one such method. It involves using a so-called friction pad. This is covered in very fine sandpaper and you run this over your legs (or whichever part of your body where the unwanted hair is growing) in small circles.

The action of the pad on the hair causes it to weaken and break off right at the skin surface. The exfoliating action of the pad also has a secondary benefit of gently removing dead skin cells from the surface layer of your skin and leaving it particularly smooth. Some have even said it is as good as getting professional exfoliation treatment at a beauty salon.

One problem with the method is the need to keep up the small circular movement. This has been resolved by the introduction of electric devices which have a rotating pad. You just run these gently over your skin without having to make any circular movements at all. One such device is the Conair Hair Removal system, which is widely available.

If you think this method may be for you, try it out without purchasing a machine, by getting a friction pad from your local drugstore. Then you can see if you like the exfoliating action on your skin. Some buyers of machines like the Conair, have found their skin was irritated by the process, whereas others think their skin has never been better. This is probably a case of different pressure being applied and being applied in the right way or it may be due to some buyers being not suited to the method, so it is well to try it out before investing in an electrical device.

For those who do love this hair removal method it is like a well kept secret, that is as good as shaving yet is used on dry skin and with no chance of nicks and cuts.
