What Affects Hair Replacement Costs
If you are thinking about hair replacement surgery then there are a couple of variables you should be aware of before going to the hair restoration clinic. When you go to get a quote for your procedure it will be based on two main factors which can be subdivided into smaller ones. Of course, in general the price will be based on the size of the area to be treated and the difficulty of obtaining the growing hairs to use as grafts.
It really goes without saying that the larger the area to be covered the greater the expense involved. If you are just looking to improve a slightly receding hair line then this would not be overly expensive but if you are bald from the forehead back to the crown or vertex, this will require many more grafts and thus increase the price.
Depending upon the clinic involved and the thickness of hair at your donor spot, the individual grafts can range from $3 to about $7 in the US. There are many factors which play into this charge. If you are in a major city you will probably pay more than if you live in a midsize city. Also, if the hair restoration doctor is famous he or she can usually charge at the higher end for the same procedure that a lesser known could do cheaper. Also, the price may be higher if the city you are in has a large fashion or entertainment base as the clinics know these people need to look their best all the time.
This price will also be high if you are seeing some thinning at the donor site already. This makes the harvesting of the hairs more difficult because the surgeon must make sure to leave ample hairs spread around in order that there not be a bald spot created when the original one is filled up.
So as you can see there a many variables which can effect how high the hair replacement costs go. The best thing to do is to visit at least three different clinics or doctors to find out what each one will charge. Also, be sure to check around for other people who have used these surgeons and find out what they think.
The hair on your head is important but, at the same time, you don’t want to spend any more money than is absolutely necessary.
