Looking After Leather Arm Chairs
Leather arm chairs have been a been a common sight in homes for a long time. Back in the Victorian times the man of the house would enjoy a cigar or a glass of port, with his friends while he lounged in his leather armchair. Even on TV shows, people like Alastair Cook would broadcast to us from the comfort of an armchair during Masterpiece Theater. It has even become a symbol of luxury. These days leather arm chairs come in an array of different shapes, sizes and colors. The more modern styles are much more sleek and casual than what we used in the past.
Leather is a fairly durable material, but it stills requires some care. If it is exposed to direct sunlight for a long period it can crack and fade. So that your leather furniture is keep looking its best you need to make sure it is kept clean and conditioned. It isn’t hard to find products that have been made especially for cleaning and conditioning leather products. The furniture manufacturer might have their own care instructions, so it is best to check the owners handbook before you use any other products, also some leather comes pre treated to reflect stains and water. If you plan to use other products it would be advisable to test them on a hidden area first. You can use a soft-gum art eraser to remove any small stains. If you need something extra you can use a slightly damp cloth with soapy water. Then use a clean dry cloth to remove all of the excess water. and buff to a nice shine. Remember to keep your leather armchair vacuumed and dusted to remove all loose dirt and debris.
If it is cared for correctly your arm chair will last you for a good number of years.
