Freshly Brewed Coffee with a Manual Coffee Grinder
If you love the taste of fresh brewed coffee, you might consider purchasing a manual coffee grinder to grind your own beans. Using freshly ground beans is the first step to having a great tasting cup of coffee. You will find many different types of flavored and roasted beans available for purchase at stores and online. The advantage to buying these beans over the already ground blends, is the fresh flavor you get when the coffee is brewed. The products which come as already ground may have been sitting in a can for several months before you purchased it.
The manual grinders also help reduce the amount of electricity you use by having the beans ground by hand. These units resemble the large pepper mills in their design. They have a crank located on the top cover piece which has a large easy to grip knob. The top cover area is designed as a cup with a grinder attached. The device is extremely easy to use for grinding your beans. You simply pour an amount into the cup section and begin tuning the crank. As these beans become ground down, they fall through the open mesh into the compartment below.
Some basic styles of the manual grinder have a clear plastic or glass bottom piece while other styles are constructed out of decorative wood. The decorative styles are made to blend in with the décor of a kitchen so they could be left out on a counter for easy access. The various models will have different capacities they can hold. The price for the unit depends on the design and features it has. The basic antique wood look with stainless steel retails for about $25 while the designer authentic wood style from Alessi sells for $270. The grinder is a nice way to have your own fresh brewed coffee on hand when you want it.
