Stained or Natural Oak Laminate Flooring?
Provided you choose a good quality product, oak laminate flooring can be the perfect flooring for your home. Whereas cheap oak laminate will look and sound like a plastic hollow substitute, quality laminate planks are thick and click together with very little hassle to make a fine finish for your floor.
When you look at the better ranges you will see that you have a lot of choice in colors too. Although natural oak laminate flooring is the most popular, you might like to consider a dark stained oak finish depending on your plans for the decoration of your room. Here are some reasons why you might choose dark oak rather than natural or vice versa.
1. You Have Dark Wood Furniture
You don’t necessarily need to have furniture in the same wood as your flooring but it does look better if they are roughly the same color. Natural oak flooring and mahogany furniture do not look quite right together but a dark brown oak would be fine.
2. If You Have a Contemporary Living Room
Dark wide plank wood has a contemporary look about it which goes well in a modern living room. Small plank medium oak flooring looks the part in a more traditional or country room. So the type of room you want to create may sway your decision.
3. The Color of Your Soft Furnishings
You will find that your sofa or bed covers, curtains, rugs and cushions will go better with either dark oak or a more natural color. When choosing your flooring, it is as well to have in mind the kind of colors you want for your room. If you have already chosen items (or you are keeping existing soft furnishings) make sure you take along samples of fabrics to the store so that you can see which shade of flooring goes best. You will probably be offered a whole range of colors, not just light and dark oak, and you will be amazed how one color of flooring will bring out the colors in your fabrics while others do not.
