When to use a washer/dryer combination
A dryer is a very useful tool for any household, but most people don’t have the room for another of those giant appliances. A washer/dryer combination could be the solution. But there also are disadvantages. This article will help you answer the question and decide for yourself whether a washer/dryer combination is suitable for you or not.
A Washer/dryer combo only needs the room for one single washer – or dryer – meaning you’ll save space in your home. But this comes with the big disadvantage of a much lower capacity compared to single machines. So big households may actually need two washer/dryer combinations to have enough capacity for their laundry. In such a situation, two single machines are of better use.
A combination of washer and dryer of course has its price. One of these machines usually costs at least 50 percent more than a washing machine with even bigger capacity. Thus, it should be considered whether a dryer is really necessary, and a combination should only be bought if the answer is yes. If you live in a sunny place and have a big yard, there is the possibility of drying your clothes outside. And since this also saves energy, it is even cheaper for you.
For many people, this is the main reason to buy a combination. You save the exchange of the clothes from washing machine to dryer (or to your garden). Just throw the dirty clothes in, and the clean, dry ones will come out again.
In summary, the decision should mainly be made regarding the household size. Small households, where all clothes fit in one washer/dryer combination, should consider buying one of them,. But if you need more capacity than one of these machines can offer, you should choose a single washing machine and a single dryer.
